Sanshin Lesson

Try your hand at playing the sanshin, the traditional Okinawan stringed instrument that is a precursor to the shamisen. Your instructor will introduce its history and unique form of musical notation, show you how to hold the instrument and plectrum, and guide you in playing.

When March 2026: Wednesdays and Saturdays (except March 21)
When 3 to 4 p.m. (60 minutes)
Capacity Limited to five people per lesson (reservations required)

Fee JPY 3,300 per person (tax included)
An instrument will be lent to you for the class. A snack and drinks will be served.
Instructor Izumi Higa
Ms. Higa is an official instructor of the Preservation Society for the Nomura School of Ryukyu Classical Music and a certified master of this prefectural cultural property.
Reservations Place your reservation with Butler Service by 2 p.m. on the day.

Only those guests registered to stay at The Atta Club Towers on the day are eligible for this class.

An official instructor of the Preservation Society for the Nomura School of Ryukyu Classical Music and a certified master of this prefectural cultural property, Ms. Higa makes frequent appearances on film and in television as an advocate for the classical art of sanshin playing.
